With two 6th-grade classes from Georges Braque Middle School (Rouen) and employees of Interm’aide, a job-training program.

In La Grand Mare, Hauts-de-Rouen.

In winter 2021.

Following several workshops designed specifically for the Grand Mare neighborhood in the Hauts-de-Rouen, the Le Rucher project aims to continue the work of raising awareness about photography and the arts that began in this neighborhood. Bees and honey, common threads among many cultures present in the neighborhood, are explored as a unifying force around the apiary set up by the restaurant LéO à table and the honey production facility at the middle school.

The project consists of three workshops: photography, ceramics, and writing. Using archival images of various beehives, Aladin Borioli invites participants to create new ones through the practice of photographic collage and drawing. At the same time, Marion Dutoit, an artist and landscape designer, works with the students to create honey lollipops shaped like pollen from the Grand’Mare, which was previously analyzed. These workshops are punctuated by writing sessions led by Philippe Ripoll, who collaborates with the students to develop short fictional stories in which the bee continues to evolve.

The final presentation will take the form of a journal featuring photos of the workshops and the students’ work, which will then be distributed to all participants during a group outdoor event, likely at the site where the week of artistic activities took place.

As part of the “Entre les images – Réseau Diagonal” initiative, in partnership with the community restaurant LéO à table (Interm’aide integration project), Diagonal – DGCA, and DRAC Normandie.
