Talks 1950′ – 1960′ : Paris and its fashion stories with Raphaëlle Stopin, director of the Centre Photographique

13 April 2023

Capital of fashion, home of the great couturiers, Paris has been a remarkable stage since the first forays of photographers outside the studios. In the post-war years, until the 1960s, it lent its image to the staging of a feminine fashion in pursuit of emancipation.

Through a few selected fashion series, some of which have passed into posterity, we will evoke the different imaginaries of which the city was invested in these decades, by the French and American fashion press. How did the photographers seize them, nourish them and enhance them?

Event proposed by the Société des Ami-e-s du Centre photographique
