Constantin Schlachter’s work centers on an exploration of both inner and outer landscapes. Nature, the invisible, and matter are central themes in his work. His experimental approach to the techniques he employs aims to offer a perspective on a less anthropocentric world and to re-enchant nature. This mysterious entity captivates each viewer in its own way, for it speaks to everyone yet can never be fully translated.
Through various media related to photography, he questions matter and its synesthetic power. By inverting the scales, colors, and textures of the elements presented, he induces a confusion of the senses in the viewer to reveal deeper ones.
His images invite us into a state of letting go, a contemplative state in which everyone can project their own emotions. His cosmic and earthly images, where matter plays a central role, blur the lines between the microcosm and the macrocosm. Throughout his practice, the artist increasingly seeks to erase his own presence in order to highlight that of his subject.
Constantin Schlachter was born in Altkirch in 1992; a 2014 graduate of Les Gobelins, he lives and works in Paris.
