The Making of News Images
With students in the 10th grade of the general and technological tracks and the 10th grade of the vocational track.

The Rouen Normandy Photographic Center invites the photographer Guillaume Herbaut to offer participants a course of analysis and practice of the photographic image in a media context. For this course, an exhibition of Guillaume Herbaut’s work is presented for several months in each school. Following the presentation of his photographic practice, comes the workshop phase. The photographer first invites the students to do a press review and to select the images that catch their attention from the national and international titles offered. Then, in groups, the students are asked to reconstruct the chosen image during the workshop sessions. These stagings are done with the “means at hand” and the work is essentially about composition, gestures and expression. A session is then dedicated to the selection of the photographs produced.
A printed form, synthesizing the reference to the daily newspaper and its large format, is being produced.
