Le paysage transfiguré

The workshop led by photographer Christophe Maout, titled “The Transfigured Landscape,” invites students to explore how the transformation of the landscape is depicted through various activities taking place on the high school campus, using techniques such as staging, reenactment, and editing. Students are involved in designing the scenes and also serve as models, playing their own roles and contributing to the effect of a realistic, anti-theatrical presentation in a poetic representation of reality.

The studio draws inspiration from paintings created from the 17th century (when the estate was founded) through the 19th century—from Nicolas Poussin to Millet, Courbet, and Van Gogh—to produce contemporary and personal interpretations of landscapes with figures, framed within the canvas.

This personal and collective work is on display at the exhibition “Éden, le paysage transfiguré” in the chapel of the Chambray estate through September 19. Visits by appointment at 0232356170.

The artist residency “Le paysage transfiguré,” organized by the Edouard de Chambray High School for General and Agricultural Technology in Gouville (Eure) and the Rouen Normandy Photography Center, is taking place

As part of the “Jumelages” initiative, funded by the Normandy Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs and the Normandy Regional Directorate of Food, Agriculture, and Forestry.
