Read an image
Posters, television, magazines… Images are everywhere! The “Reading an Image” workshop invites participants to explore the language of images: what visual vocabulary does the photographer use? How do choices of framing and perspective influence our perception of the reality depicted? Finally, how do the context in which an image is published and the text that may accompany it shape our perception and, consequently, our interpretation? Through examples drawn from the press, advertising, and art history, these key questions will be addressed in a playful way to help participants sharpen their critical eye and become active observers of their visual environment.
