Une Prairie

Sophie Grassart

With three classes of Rouen schools, from Grande section to CE1.

In Rouen

In the spring of 2024.

After the arrival of spring and a visit to the La Rose est sans pourquoi exhibition at the Centre photographique Rouen Normandie, artist Sophie Grassart worked with the classes to create a large meadow for display in the school.

First, they had to grab brushes and paint to create a beautiful flowerbed on large plywood boards. Once this large collective painting was complete, each child shaped a pretty ceramic flower, its petals and leaves dancing to the rhythm of the wind, before enamelling it – always in bright colours. Once the dancing flowers and paintings had been hung on the wall, the children worked with the artist to create small invitations for their families. A tea party was organised in each school so that everyone could proudly show off their creations to their friends and family and to the whole school!

The meadows created by the children are on permanent display in the schools’ common areas (hall, playground and playroom).

As part of the initiative “Édu’curieux” from the City of Rouen.
